Ram khichdi




Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
1/4 cup boiled peas
2 bay leaves, 3-4 cloves, 1" stick of cinnamon
2 cardamoms, 1 stalk curry leaves
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp dhania powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
juice of 1 lemon
1 tbsp cashew
2 tbsp ghee/oil
1/2 gatte pieces
1 tbsp each cumin seeds and mustard seeds

Method:
For making gatte:
The method is same as used in making gatte ki sabji.

For making rice:
1. Boil rice in plenty of water. Each grain should be separate.
2. Heat ghee in a kadai/pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cashews, bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms and curry leaves.
3. Add gattas and peas.
4. Stir fry till ghee separates. Add to rice.
5. Mix slowly and well. Garnish with coriander and serve with curd/yogurt.
